There has been a growing need to shift conventional diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training which tends to focus on surface level acceptance of the differences that exist between people without acknowledging deep-rooted societal inequities. Identity-Based Caucusing recognizes the importance of structural racism, the need to go beyond training and to enter into action. The practice of caucusing appreciates that anti-racism work looks different for each identity group and that transformational change is required at the individual, community and societal level.
